Welcome to what is sure to be the most bizarre term 3 in Point Grey’s history. We will attempt some forms of music education in the near future, but for now the most important thing is that you and your family are well, and you continue to be well. I have enjoyed hearing from many of you over the last few days. If you are one of Mr. Fleming’s students, and you have not done so already, please take the time to respond to the email that was sent to you the other day in order to 1) confirm your email address/or provide a better email address to contact you with, and 2) let us know how you are doing. I’m sure Mr. Wong would enjoy hearing from choir and string students as well.
When we do start up, one of the ways we will be communicating is through Microsoft Teams, as you will be doing with all your other teachers. You will need to know your school email address and password. If you have forgotten your password, a teacher has the ability to reset that for you.
Many of you may have left your instruments and music at school. Sometime in the near future there will be an opportunity for you to retrieve items from your locker and the band room. You will be contacted by the school who will give you a date and time to come to the school. You should take your instrument and music home with you at that time. We won’t be allowing any percussion instruments to be taken home other than practice pads. Similarly double basses will remain at the school. Mr. Wong and I are deciding what to do about cellos. I know that many of you may be uncomfortable coming to the school at this time, I completely understand and we will do our best to work through that particular situation.
Lastly, if you have ordered a t-shirt or hoodie, they have been printed and (I think) have arrived at the school. When we have decided on a process for distribution we will let you know.
For now, stay healthy, chat with your friends, check your email, and even check the website for occasional updates.
