This Week in Music: Feb. 28 – Mar. 6 Posted by Brent Taylor in Weekly Bulletins on February 28, 2011

Congratulations to all of Point Grey’s jazz students on their performances at the Envision Jazz Festival and the Kiwanis Jazz Festival.  Jazz Band A performed at the Envision Jazz Festival in Surrey and finished Friday as one of the top 4 bands for that day.

Jazz Bands A -D and Combos 1 -4 played at the Kiwanis Jazz Festival on Thursday and Friday last week.  Point Grey dominated the schedule with 4 groups performing each day, the most from any single school. The panel of adjudicators were very impressed with our students, both with their playing ability and their background knowledge of jazz. The groups were divided into two categories and finished as follows:

Senior Category
Jazz A – Gold
Jazz B – Bronze
Combo 1 – Gold
Combo 2 – Silver

Junior Category
Jazz C – Silver
Jazz D – Silver
Combo 3 – Bronze
Combo 4 – Silver

The students can take pride in not only making some fine music, but also in distinguishing themselves behind the scenes as excellent ambassadors for our school and community.
