The concert and symphonic bands at Point Grey are Beginner Band 8/9, Intermediate Band 8/9, Concert Band 9, and Symphonic Band 10-12. Every effort is made to ensure that students are placed in the appropriate level of ensemble. Concert bands are not auditioned; students are placed by age to enable social, as well as musical development. The evaluation system used for the concert groups is ~50% musical proficiency and ~50% participation. We have a firm belief that every student deserves an opportunity for musical expression regardless of ability. As long as they are willing to participate and are genuinely striving for improvement, they will be encouraged to participate and rewarded with a good mark. No sincere student is refused a place in a concert ensemble
